Real estate rewards many different personalities. The outgoing agent who knows everyone at the open house and the meticulous agent who has read every line of the inspection report can both build excellent businesses. They just build them differently. A DISC assessment shows you which path is natural for you, and where you are working against your own wiring.

The four DISC styles in real estate

  • High D agents move deals forward. They prospect without fear, negotiate hard, and make fast decisions. Watch-out: skipping details and rushing clients who need time.
  • High I agents win on relationships. Their networks and enthusiasm generate leads and referrals. Watch-out: follow-up, paperwork and overpromising.
  • High S agents are the calm in the storm. Anxious buyers and sellers trust them, and they follow through. Watch-out: avoiding hard conversations and negotiating too softly.
  • High C agents are the most prepared in the room. Their CMAs are airtight and their contracts error-free. Watch-out: over-preparing and under-promoting themselves.

Why the gap between your profiles matters

TraitBloom measures three profiles: Projected (how you present at work), Private (your natural self) and Public (how clients first see you). The most useful coaching insight is often the gap between them. An agent whose Projected Dominance is much higher than their Private Dominance has built a professional layer of assertiveness. It works, but it costs energy, and it shows up most in negotiations and difficult client conversations.

Coaching tip: the goal is not to change your style. It is to become comfortable using the behaviors your business needs, while leading with the strengths you already have.

Adapting to your clients' styles

Clients have DISC styles too. A High D seller wants the bottom line and a clear recommendation. A High I buyer wants energy and connection before paperwork. A High S client needs patience and reassurance. A High C client wants every data point. Recognizing the style in the first conversation and adjusting your approach is one of the fastest ways to build trust.

Using DISC in your brokerage

Brokers and team leaders use DISC to tailor one-on-one coaching, pair agents with complementary styles, and understand why the same script works for one agent and falls flat for another. Start with your own profile, then bring it to your next coaching session.
